|The title of this vessel is a play on the words "A Sign of the Times." The
piece represents the body of work that I am engaged in at the present
"Time," with one of the major elements being a series of sine waves
encircling the vessel. They imply motion in a periodic, persistent and
predictable way, but are not aligned horizontally or vertically.
The wood is from the urban forest of greater Phoenix, Arizona and its
suburbs, and is indicative of the many exotic species that have been
introduced into the urban landscape as attractive ornamental specimens.
The wood is Acacia native to Australia, and its heartwood is a dark
chocolate-brown color, contrasted by a light yellow sapwood.
