The Gallery of J. Paul Fennell Woodturning Art
The piece represents the body of work that I am engaged in at the present
time, with one of the major elements being a series of sine waves.  In this
vessel, the waves are attenuated as they approach the top of the piece  They
imply motion in a periodic, persistent and predictable way, and can imply
the idea of ocean waves approaching and being attenuated on a beach.
The mesquite is from the urban forest of greater Phoenix, Arizona and its
suburbs, and is indicative of the many exotic species that have been
introduced into the urban landscape as attractive ornamental specimens.
