About the wood:
African Sumac (Rhus Lancia) is an exotic species from South Africa,
introduced into Arizona as a landscape tree.  The wood is not
available commercially and can only be obtained when a tree is cut
down and destined for the landfill or firewood lot.  When exposed
to the sun, it oxidizes to a distinctive red color
